Welcome to Reed Hollow
A "Thrifty" Antiques Store!
Reed Hollow Barn, owned and operated by Jen Smith and Scott Hammond, is located in the town of Pembroke, Massachusetts, at 476 Center St., Route 36, the shortest route in the state! Boston lies approximately 30 miles to the north and Cape Cod is 30 miles to our south. Historic Plymouth is only 12 miles away, and we're looking forward to "Hollywood East!" The barn sits far back from the road. The shop was originally attached to our house, until we cleared the back land and built the barn. The shop consists of two floors, stocked by six different dealers, and filled with a variety of items, plus there's a Bargain Basement that includes a Pembroke Kiwanis Thrift Shop. You'll find antiques, collectibles, retro pieces, and many vintage items, as well as scented candles, gourmet coffee, and organic soaps. We're not your "typical" antiques store. LOTS of new inventory is added every week. We sell wonderful herbs in the spring, pumpkins and cornstalks in the fall, and Christmas trees and wreaths beginning right after Thanksgiving. Open Thursday - Sunday 12 - 6. We are usually open on Monday holidays also. Closed the month of August.

The Pond in front of the Barn
In the spring of '08 we added this water feature. As soon as the pond was filled with water, in flew the first ducks and in no time we had thousands (and I mean thousands) of tadpoles. There's a vernal pool just behind the barn, so it's only a short "hop" to get to the pond. We, once again this spring, have tons of tadpoles swimming around. (See picture following.) We weren't certain if they were frog or toad tadpoles last year until they matured. They were mostly toads, and we had hundreds of tiny toads hopping all over the place. We love frogs, toads, and all wildlife. Don't be alarmed if you visit here on a warm, sunny day and see the newest resident of this area--a four foot Black Racer snake! He's pretty impressive, although actually small in comparison to how large they grow. No need to worry, he's more afraid of you than you should be of him!
To see lots more pictures related to the inhabitants in and around the pond, see the "In the Garden" page.
Entrance Sign on Center St.
As you drive down Center St., you will see our sign. When we are open, we also fly a large, white flag. The following pictures are of our home, on your left as you drive down the lane, followed by the Skating House on your right by the red maple swamp, and the Wagon Shed on your left, originally built to house our antique wagon from Maine, but we added onto it and use it for outdoorsy parties. The wagon is still in it, in the right wing of the building. There's also the Cabin on the Hill (picture coming) which was the original structure on the property. We are very lucky to have all this land. It has been in the family since 1902 when my (Jen's) great, great grandfather purchased it for a summer retreat.
Customers ask, "What are all those buildings as you drive in?" Here they are:
This is our house, the original structure built in 1995. The original shop, The Most Anything Shop, was housed in the portion to the left of the garage (not shown in this photo shot). Someday, we hope to make it into an apartment for one of my nephews.
The Skating House and "Duck Blind" (but not for hunting!)
This is a great place to put on and take off your skates by the fireplace. It's also a fun place to sit quietly and listen to and watch all the wildlife. We have lots of mallards and wood ducks. And, of course, there are loads of frogs. Spring peepers fill every spring evening and night. They offer the world such a joyous and welcoming song!
The Wagon Shed
Scott and I were married here at Reed Hollow. It was a country-themed wedding--everyone wore comfortable clothes, western style. The bridal party arrived by a white, horse-drawn carriage. We came through the cranberry bog roads to the land. All the guests were lining the lane coming in. It was my dream come true. The wagon shed, the center part of it, was built with our wedding money to house our farm wagon that we brought back from Maine. It's now in the right side of the wagon shed.
View from our house to the wagon shed on left, cabin on the hill (private rental), and Tiki House by pool. Drive in is to the right of this picture.
